My personal opinion is that Yeltsin really wants Putin to become the next president of Russia. When Putin quite unpredictable become the prime minister several month ago, nobody took him seriously. The common opinion was that Putin is a new Yeltsin's toy to be thrown away soon. But this dark horse quickly gained unbelievable popularity. The opinion polls now show that about 50% want him as a new Russian president. The next candidate, Communist leader Zyuganov has only 15% rating.

The main goal of the current Russian ruling class is to avoid a new redistribution of power and property. It seems Putin has been "synthesized" for achieving this goal: to warrant the predominance of the current propertied class after the future presidential elections.

Sorry, Ian, but De Beers always had a monopoly for the whole world diamond output. (I have heard there are strong economical reasons for that monopoly, but don't know the details. Perhaps, this is a basic element of ZOG.) Soviet Union sold diamonds through De Beers too.

Concerning the Russian oil industry, it is partly in Jewish hands. However, the largest Russian company, Lukoil is controlled by Azerbaijani clan.
